About RoomTamer

RoomTamer is a theoretical small-room acoustics reference and browser-based calculation toolkit for people exploring room modes, speaker placement and acoustic treatment. Use the guides to understand models and plan comparisons in your own room.

What the site provides

  • Calculated estimates: the room mode and placement planner applies idealized geometry and wave equations. The absorption matrix and RT60 estimator illustrates coefficient-based reverberation calculations.
  • References and worked examples: 6 published guides explain the assumptions behind these models. Reference links and numerical examples are not measurements performed by this site.
  • Explicit evidence limits: none of the published guides currently publishes a completed site field test. The material rows have not been individually matched to original product test reports.

Calculator tests check software behavior and numerical cases. They do not certify a material, establish standards compliance or guarantee a treatment outcome. Proposed experiments describe how a claim could be investigated; they are not scheduled tests in an established reference room.

Our authors

Our author team includes Alex, Norman, Jamie and dongliang. Their writing topics are:

  • Alex: Room modes, room proportions and Schroeder crossover frequency.
  • Norman: Bass traps, panel air gaps and porous absorbers.
  • Jamie: First reflections, speaker-boundary interference and listening position.
  • dongliang: QRD diffusers, reverberation time and sound isolation.

The publication is operated by RoomTamer Studio, whose team members are based in Australia, the United Kingdom, China and Indonesia. Meet the author team and browse their articles.

How to read the evidence

Each guide states its scope and verification status. Calculators label their outputs as estimates, and the material matrix marks its source verification as incomplete. Our editorial policy explains what is required before a result can be described as a site measurement.
